Associated Food Stores Recognized as a Utah Genius

Salt lake City, UT – Associated Food Stores was recognized by Utah Genius as a Top 20 Trademark Registrant in the state of Utah. Associated Food Stores ranked number two in the state of Utah, registering 12 Trademarks in 2013. The Utah Genius awards program annually recognizes the top 20 patentees and trademark registrars in the state.

“It is an honor being named a Utah Genius,” said Jason Sokol, marketing director. “Our team worked hard creating meaningful branding opportunities that make an impact in the communities we serve.”

The majority of Associated Food Stores’ registered trademarks coincided with a major rebrand of Macey’s, a new pharmacy program and the launch of a new mascot at Fresh Market.

Macey’s grocery stores launched rebranding efforts which included a new tagline, Happy Shopping®, Macey’s has also introduced a new mascot, Kong® and the famous Kong Kone®, a soft serve ice cream cone which has become a family favorite treat all year long. Macey’s also launched Macey’s Perks®, a customer rewards program.

Fresh Market guests have become familiar with Abby®, the new mascot who was introduced in 2013 and has made special appearances throughout Utah. Abby has even promoted healthy eating while on the court during timeouts of Utah Jazz games.

In 2013, Associated Food Stores also gained trademarks for To Health Rx®, a pharmacy program used throughout the company’s member stores. The program has made an incredible impact on patient needs throughout Utah.
